Deaccession Project

Dear Community,

The Preble County Historical Society wants to share one of our on-going projects to strengthen our collection. We are currently working on completing a comprehensive inventory and updating our database to analyze our collection. After that process, we intend on starting the procedure of deaccessioning material that no longer aligns with our mission to be the resource to preserve and promote the knowledge and history of Preble County for all generations. Items may be added to the deaccession list if they are duplicates, do not have identification information, or do not have relevance to Preble County.

A list was formerly published on our website of items to be deaccessioned by the former staff at Preble County Historical Society. Those materials will not be deaccessioned until a better inventory has been completed by our new director. The next deaccession project will be announced to the public and published in local papers. We highly value our collection and our passionate donors, but we also firmly believe that deaccessioning is a necessary process in caring for our collection.

For any questions regarding our collection and the deaccessioning process please contact the Director of History and Education, Alyssa Stark, at or by calling us at 937-787-4256.
