YELLOW TRAIL- LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE
All Aboard- Station ONE
At this station, it is the goal of the group to get all members on the "boat". For younger students, let them use verbal communication skills to complete this task. For Adults, try using non-verbal skills, by not talking, to complete the challenge.
Island Hopping- Station TWO
At this station, it is the goal of the group to get all members across the swamp. We tell the students that there are sharks swimming around the islands. Choose a leader to instruct members to complete the task.
This station requires teams to get all members from one island to the next, one at a time, without falling off the planks of wood.
Balance Platform- Station THREE
At this station, it is the goal of the group to find balance on a team. Using bodies to balance each side of the platform is key. You may have to adjust the team according to the strengths of team members. Attempt to get everyone on board. Do not bounce on the platform. Carefully load members as you try and complete this challenge.
Zig Zag Crossing- Station FOUR
At this station, it is the goal of the group to climb the ladder of success. You start at the beginning, and as your leadership skills increase, you have the opportunity to climb the ladder of success by moving the piece of wood in a zig-zag pattern. You can have everyone start on one side as their new job begins, and find a way to move through their career path. Sometimes, we take detours, but with hard work and determination, we make it to the other side. As leaders, it is also our job to help our peers move up the ladder. Once the first person reaches the other side, have them instruct the next person along their path.
Trust Fall- Station FIVE
At this station, it is the goal of the group to find trust within a team. Take turns climbing on the bottom step of the box. Have other members of the team stand across from each other on the ground, locking arms to catch. Have one person fold their arms across their chest, and when the team counts to 3, the person falls backwards. This teaches others to TRUST their team.
Team Beam- Station SIX
At this station, it is the goal of the group to be on the beam without falling off. Instruct the team to all get up on the beam. Now-- have the team arrange themselves without getting off in alphabetical order, or by birth month, or another order that you choose. It's best to have 4-6 adults or 6-8 kids. You can also do boys vs girls. Dividing the group into team for a friendly competition works well.
